Chandigarh is well known to be a region several successful sports person. Keeping it in view, for nurturing the young talent, Chandigarh administration has established and maintained following academies:

The government of Chandigarh runs some sports academies in Chandigarh for the promotion of sports like football, cricket, tennis and hockey among children and youth.

Football and Hockey Academy in Chandigarh:

Football and Hockey academy in Chandigarh is one of the best academies in the Country. This academy was established in the year 2000,  by H.E., Lt. Gen. J.F.R  Jacob, PVSM (Retd), the then governer of Punjab and administrator of U.T. OF Chandigarh.

This academy was established with the aim of providing coaching and nurturing young and fresh talents in the field of Hockey and Football in Chandigarh. An entrance exam is been conducted for selecting and enrolling students for various courses. The incredible achievements of this academy have made it popular in India. It has delivered several international players.

Football Academy Senior:

Children in the age group of 10-11years are considered for admission. Tenure of 7 years is fixed for the trainees, as per the agreements. Students shall pass out the academy on completion of this term.

Junior Foot Ball Trainees:

The junior batch of the foot ball trainees in the age group of 10-11 years is inducted as soon as the senior batch passes out.

Hockey Academy:

It was established as a consequence of the success of the football academy. The tenure for the training is 6 years. World class facilities are provided for imparting training to the potential players. Children of age group 9-11 years are selected for the training. A wing of Girls Hockey Academy also operates under it. Course tenure is of 5 years and the girls admitted here fall under the age group of 13-14 years. Later these academies were renamed as Chandigarh Football and Hockey Academy.

Chandigarh Cricket Academy:

It was established by Gen. (Retd.) Dr. S.F. Rodrigues PVSM, VSM, the then administrator of U.T. of Chandigarh. The term for training is of 7 years, and children of 9-10 years of age group are considered for the admission.

Chandigarh Girls Cricket And Football Academy:

It was established with the aim to introduce girls to the field of cricket and football. The academy nurtures the young female talent and has provided outstanding players in their disciplines.

• In these government academies, there is a provision for free boarding, lodging, bedding, sports material, and allied equipments for the students.

• Opens all days except on weekends

National Golf Academy:
